OXELEI, Domesday Book manor in Rowditch hundred
There is no doubt that the name means 'ox clearing/wood', but it is hard to identify. Possibly 'Oxleys Copse' (1538 'Oxlease') in Beaulieu liberty, but that appears to have 'laes'='meadow' as the second element and it is not in Rowdtch hundred.
